What types of percentage calculations can I perform?
Our percentage calculator handles the most common scenarios: finding X% of a number, calculating what percentage one number is of another, computing percentage increase or decrease between two values, and finding the original value after a percentage change.
How do I calculate percentage change?
Percentage change = ((new value - old value) / old value) × 100. A positive result is an increase; a negative result is a decrease. For example, if a price goes from $80 to $100, the change is ((100-80)/80) × 100 = 25% increase.
What is the difference between percentage points and percent change?
Percentage points measure the arithmetic difference between two percentages (e.g., interest rates going from 2% to 5% is a 3 percentage point increase). Percent change measures the relative change (a 150% increase). These are often confused but have very different meanings.
