FAQs about shipping from Australia

Why does AusPost tracking show "Awaiting collection at parcel locker"?

If you're not home for a parcel that needs a signature or doesn't fit the mailbox, AusPost diverts it to a 24/7 Parcel Locker or your local Post Office. You have 10 business days to collect, then it's returned to sender. The status updates with the specific locker/post office address and a collection PIN sent by email/SMS.

Are there delivery slowdowns to remote / rural Australian addresses?

Yes — AusPost's standard service estimates only cover capital-city zones. WA, NT, far north QLD, and Tasmania routinely see 2-5 extra business days, and remote Indigenous communities can take longer still. The AusPost Delivery Times tool is the most accurate; ignore checkout estimates from international sellers.

Will I owe GST on inbound packages to Australia?

For low-value imports under AUD 1,000, the seller or platform must collect 10% GST at checkout (Low Value Imported Goods rule, since 2018). Above AUD 1,000, GST plus possible duty is collected by the carrier on delivery, and tracking may pause for 1-3 days at customs. eBay/Amazon/AliExpress already build GST into the price.
