FAQs about shipping from South Korea

What does '집화처리' mean on my tracking?

집화처리 (jip-hwa-cheo-ri) means the courier has picked up the parcel from the sender and scanned it into the network. The next status is usually 간선상차 (loaded onto a line-haul truck) followed by 배송출발 (out for delivery).

Are there delivery delays during Chuseok or Seollal?

Yes. Around Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving, mid-September to early October) and Seollal (Lunar New Year, late January to mid-February), couriers see 2-5x normal volume. Expect 1-3 extra days for domestic deliveries and order at least a week ahead. Couriers often pause new pickups on the holiday days themselves.

Can I track a Korean package without the tracking number, just my phone number?

Some carriers (CJ대한통운, Hanjin) let you look up recent deliveries by entering the recipient's Korean phone number on their website. Korea Post requires the 13-digit registered-mail number. International EMS shipments must be tracked with the EE/EM/RR-prefixed number.
